Day 9- My note to all...

Today’s our, ninth day over here. The people here are enjoyable and so is the food. The view is, incredible. However, and I know you’re tired of my self-deprecation, I think the problem is me. My awkwardness seems to personify into its own being and feed on nothing but spite for the rest of me.  What's the saying? “Wherever I go, there I am.” Well, I am here.

Although I’m finding it pretty hard to stay afloat, I’m still trying. My host family is great at approaching me with easy to answer questions that then guide us to a more in depth conversation. I think Alyssa might be carrying the heavier load when it comes to communication between all of us. She's like my interpreter for basic human interactions.

Today’s also the last day that our good pal Tim is with us. After a quick little photo-op, it’s back to Milwaukee for him. When we first landed and made our way down to Providencia (that’s the town we’re staying in), we stopped and stayed at a hotel in town called Tami Lodge. We stayed there for a night before heading over to our host families. During our dinner at Tami, that’s when we first met him. Super cool dude.

Tim has taught us (me) a lot. Mostly how you don’t have to be stuck in your life. You can do good and be good with whatever position you hold. You kinda just have to try. Philosophical, huh. I thought you’d like that. Anyway, this is my farewell to Tim and my see you soon to you.

Oh, also, I was laying bricks. Like, what? Little ole Karen. Don’t tell Antonio. The concrete on my pants might be hard to hide. I've had the chance to work on both the Bio Toilet and the retaining wall, so far the team has made so much progress!
